Medicare Rebates
Medicare Rebates are available under the Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative which allows children and their parents to access psychological treatment and receive a rebate from Medicare for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. The Medicare rebate amount for a Clinical Psychologist is $137.05 per session. In order to determine if you and/or your child are eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), please consult your GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist. They will determine whether you or your child meet criteria for a MHCP.
Please bring a copy of the GP referral AND the MHCP to your first appointment. Families will be required to provide payment in full (see fee schedule above) and New Patterns Child Psychology Clinic will claim the rebate for you. Families can expect that the rebate will be debited directly into their debit account 3-5 days after they provide payment for the session.
NDIS Funding
New Patterns Child Psychology Clinic is happy to serve families that have Self-Managed and Plan Managed NDIS Funding. New Patterns is currently not a registered provider of support to accept NDIA (National Disability Insurance Agency) managed NDIS funding. Families are Self-Managed have the flexibility to choose which providers they see to meet their goals. For families that are Plan Managed, New Patterns will work with your plan managers for all billing requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
Prior to your appointment, you will receive a New Client Information Form via email. Please print and bring this completed form to your first appointment. Also, if you plan to claim rebates under a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) please bring the MHCP AND the referral from your GP. Depending on the reason for your visit, we also encourage families to bring along any school reports that may be relevant or any relevant reports from health professionals (i.e. Educational assessment, Diagnostic evaluation, speech therapy assessment, etc.)
Standard sessions are 60 minutes. If a longer session is required, the caregiver and psychologist will make individual arrangements.
You will need to consult your General Practitioner or Paediatrician who will decide whether your child’s concerns meet the criteria for a MHCP to be created. It is best to see your GP/Paediatrician PRIOR to the first appointment as any sessions that occur prior to the date of the MHCP will NOT be eligible for a rebate.
Bring your MHCP and the referral to your first appointment. New Patterns will submit your claim for this session and all follow-up sessions.
The rebate will be debited 3-5 days after the claim is submitted by New Patterns. The rebate will be deposited into the bank account that it is attached to your Medicare account.

This will depend on your particular health fund and the level of cover. Please check with your health fund prior to booking an appointment. New Patterns will not claim private health rebates; it is responsibility the client to claim their private health rebates.
